As editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia for nine years and, previously, Grazia Middle East, Dubai-based journalist Louise Nichol has overseen cover shoots with the likes of Queen Rania of Jordan, Rihanna, Janet Jackson and Kim Kardashian-West. In addition, she has interviewed celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Penelope Cruz, Charlize Theron, Keira Knightley, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Victoria Beckham and Sofia Vergara, as well as designers including Karl Lagerfeld, Tom Ford and Donatella Versace. Regionally, Louise conducted an exclusive video series with the United Arab Emirates’ Princess Haya bint Hussein for Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.

Since leaving Harper’s Bazaar towards the end of 2018, Louise has pursued a freelance career as a presenter, host and consultant, utilising her close ties to the region’s luxury brands and consumers. Louise MC’d Arabian Business magazine’s first London Achievement Awards in 2019 alongside BBC journalist Andrew Neil. She has also served as compère for Dubai’s Arab Luxury World conference, and hosted various panels and interviews with the likes of NET-A-PORTER president Alison Loehnis, jeweller Maria Tash, aesthetic expert Dr Barbara Sturm and further projects for clients such as Swarovski, Retail Leaders Circle, Enterprise Transformation Summit & Awards and Marriott Luxury hotels.

After reading politics, philosophy and English at Durham University in the UK, Louise completed a post graduate diploma in magazine journalism at Cardiff University’s School of Journalism, Media and Culture. She began her journalism career at UK fashion industry trade title Drapers before moving to the UAE in 2005.

Louise also writes for Business of Fashion and has been featured by the likes of NET-A-PORTER and The Coveteur. In 2019 she was part of BVLGARI’s regional campaign featuring women of achievement in support of its partnership with Save the Children, alongside the likes of Saudi actress Aseel, Egyptian star Tara Emad, Tunisian actress Dorra Zarrouk and Lebanese actress Nadine Nassib Njeim. Louise wrote the foreword for a book celebrating Mall of the Emirates’ 10-year anniversary, published by Assouline, and has been featured in an international advertising campaign for luxury hotel group Jumeirah. Louise is mother to seven-year-old daughter Leo, and two sons: four-year-old Fox and three-year-old Kit.
