After all that festive red (sartorial rather than oenological, mind), I’ve reverted back to my inner Barbie, gravitating to all the pink in my wardrobe in a possibly not-so unconscious bid to soften the gloom of January by layering a rose-tinted filter of optimism over the impending period of (let’s face it, highly necessary) abstinence.
After all, why should Millennials stake the sole claim on pink? My Stella McCartney hoodie (a sale win from Net-a-Porter) wraps up sportswear in a candy-coloured hug that makes me smile even on the most dress-down of days. At the polar extreme of the Pantone scale, Zara’s fuchsia satin-finish jacquard top is just Dynasty enough and wins at flashy nights out with black velvet trousers and chandelier earrings or for mellow brunches with a denim skirt and sandals.
Finally, like Hillary, I too love a block coloured pantsuit. Or, more accurately, a shorts suit (it’s not like I’m running for political office). When it comes to nailing tailoring, again Stella McCartney is second to none. She can also handle a pastel with panache. Which, in the absence of any new year’s resolutions, I plan on making my mantra.
