What’s better than one pair of golden boots? Two pairs of golden boots, obviously (and I’m not talking about Messi and Ronaldo).
Hey, it’s December, which means gold is a Go! (not that gold is ever not a go in Dubai) and boots season is a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it blip on the desert fashion calendar so I feel justified in bringing home the double. (Don’t even start me on the gilt trip puns.)
First up, while still dabbling a toe in the gilded water so to speak, I went with Zara’s gold cowboy ankle boots. The 7.5cm heel hits my sweet spot (zero pain during a night at a Boyz II Men gig – yes, retro) and the ankle length minimises the whole 24 carat thing if you’re a bit nervous of looking like an extra that time forgot from Dallas. They’re almost subtle. The same cannot be said for the Paris Texas pair that came winging their way to my wardrobe via Farfetch. Knee length, with a glossy croc effect that’s shinier than a Dubai hotel lobby but balanced on an eminently walkable 9cm block heel, these boots win at boots, which is lucky because I’m not going to be winning any footballing accolades any time soon.
Just don’t ask me to pick favourites. Can we call it a score draw?
